Direct and Indirect Methods for Studying Human Gut Microbiota

چکیده
Aim: To review the main methods of intestinal microbiota studying. Key points. Currently, molecular genetic are used mainly for basic research and do not have a unified protocol data analysis, which makes it difficult to implement them in clinical practice. Measurement short chain fatty acids (SCFA) concentrations plasma provides data, can serve as an indirect biomarker colonic composition. However, currently available evidence is insufficient relate obtained values (SCFA levels ratio) particular disease with high degree certainty. Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) blood urine also reflect presence specific bacterial clusters containing genes Cut, CntA/CntB YeaW/YeaX. Therefore, further studies required reveal possible correlations between certain disorders such parameters composition gut microbiota, dietary patterns TMAO concentration. Gas biomarkers, i.e. hydrogen, methane hydrogen sulphide, been studied more detail better understood compared other biomarkers microbiome functionality. The advantage gas that they be measured multiple times using non-invasive techniques. These measurements provide information on relative proportion hydrogenic (i.e. producing) hydrogenotrophic methanogenic sulfate-reducing) microorganisms. In its turn, this opens up possibility developing new approaches correction individual components. Conclusions. Integration by at genome, transcriptome metabolome would allow comprehensive analysis microbial community function interaction human organism. This approach may increase our understanding pathogenesis various diseases well open opportunities prevention treatment.

Molecular biological methods for studying the gut microbiota: the EU human gut flora project.
Seven European laboratories co-operated in a joint project (FAIR CT97-3035) to develop, refine and apply molecular methods towards facilitating elucidation of the complex composition of the human intestinal microflora and to devise robust methodologies for monitoring the gut flora in response to diet. An extensive database of 16S rRNA sequences for tracking intestinal bacteria was generated by ...
متن کاملStudying Direct and Indirect Human Influence on Consensus in Swarms
Many cooperative control problems ranging from formation following, to rendezvous to flocking can be expressed as consensus problems. The ability of an operator to influence the development of consensus within a swarm therefore provides a basic test of the quality of human-swarm interaction (HSI). Two plausible approaches are : Directdictate a desired value to swarm members or Indirectcontrol o...

Fermented foods containing probiotic bacteria have been used for many years to improve the health or treatment of some diseases. Nowadays, the Therapeutic properties of probiotics are becoming more and more obvious to everyone, insofar as in recent years, more attention has been paid to the potential relation between gut microbiota and mental health. Several studies have shown that intestinal m...
متن کاملDirect and indirect methods for trajectory optimization
This paper gives a brief list of commonly used direct and indirect efficient methods for the numerical solution of optimal control problems. To improve the low accuracy of the direct methods and to increase the convergence areas of the indirect methods we suggest a hybrid approach. For this a special direct collocation method is presented. In a hybrid approach this direct method can be used in ...
